Travel Tips
Limit carry-on bags to one item that fits the sizer box, plus one small personal item- such as a purse, laptop or diaper bag - per ticketed passenger.

Pack Smart

  • Travelers should reference TSA regulations at www.tsa.gov. for specific information about what items are permitted in your carry-on or checked luggage.
  • Limit carry-on bags to one item that fits the "sizer" box, plus one small personal item- such as a purse, laptop or diaper bag - per ticketed passenger.
  • Place items you are not certain are permitted in your carry-on bags in your checked luggage and If possible, pack liquids in your checked baggage.
  • Currently, travelers may carryon containers of 3 oz. liquid or gel substances that fit comfortably in one, quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag. Passengers simply need to remember 3-1-1: 3 oz. containers; 1 quart-sized, clear, zip-top bag taken out of carryon and placed in bin; 1 per passenger. Containers larger than 3 oz. will not be permitted in carryon luggage.
  • Place your quart-sized, zip-top bag of liquid, gel or aerosol products in an easily accessible area of your carryon because it must be removed at the security checkpoint and screened separately from your other items.
  • De-clutter your bags to allow Transportation Security Officers to get a clear, uncomplicated X-ray image of your carryon.

Arrive Early

  • Arrive an hour and a half prior to the scheduled departure time, as most airlines require passengers to check baggage at least 30 minutes prior to departure and be at the gate at least 20 minutes prior.
  • Please note that at some major airports, passengers must now check baggage 45 minutes prior to departure. Check with your airline as you make your travel plans.
  • Boarding passes may be printed from your home computer up to 24 hours prior to departure or obtained at the airline ticket counter, self-service electronic check-in or curbside check-in.
  • The airlines continue to provide gate passes for those escorting the disabled, elderly or children traveling alone.

At the Checkpoint

  • Have boarding passes and a government-issued, photo I.D. in-hand.
  • Prepare to remove shoes, coats and outer garments and place in a tray along with your purse, laptop, backpack, etc. If you have one, you also must remove your one quart-sized, zip-top bag of liquid, gel or aerosol products from your carryon bag and place it in a bin to be screened.
